Proposals for Cleaner Colorado Air

New regulations to cut pollution from oil and gas operations, if adopted, will be the tightest in the nation and lead to cleaner air across the state.

The proposed regulations aim to reduce the amount of natural gas and methane leaking into the air at all stages of industry operations.

If adopted as proposed, Colorado will be the first state in the nation to regulate methane – an element of natural gas that’s a powerful greenhouse gas.

The state’s health department estimates the proposed rules will cut the oil and gas industry’s annual emission of volatile organic compounds (VOC) in Colorado by about 34%, or 92,000 tons per year. That’s more than the amount of VOCs emitted by all cars in Colorado in a year.

We are grateful for Colorado’s efforts towards cleaner air. Check out Alaris’ Gratitude Corner and be sure to follow us on Twitter.
