Aug 18, 2014

In a recent WalletHub survey, Denver ranked first in the nation in employment and earning opportunities.

Using 18 metrics, WalletHub (a financial insights website) ranked Denver fourth overall in terms of being recovered from the recession.

To get these rankings, WalletHub compared the 150 largest U.S. cities in terms of those that are the most and the least improved since the recession, which officially ended in June 2009 but has had a lingering influence on the nation’s economy.

Some of the metrics used to rank the cities included:

1. Number of new businesses
2. Inflow of college-educated workers
3. Median household income increase
4. Home price appreciation
5. Foreclosure rate decrease
6. Decrease in poverty rate
7. Decrease in unemployment rate
8. Decrease in violent crime
