Taking in a holiday performance is a great way to escape the hustle and bustle of the season. Whether you go alone, with a loved one, or friends, it’s an easy to way relax and enjoy the holidays instead of stressing out about all of the plans you made. Here are some performances in and around Denver and the Foothills this season.

  1.   A Christmas Carol (Denver Performing Arts Center) Nov. 26th- Dec. 24th

This classic adaptation of Charles Dickens’ novel has illuminated the meaning of the holidays for generations. The story of Ebenezer Scrooge is one that both children and adults can learn from.

  1.   The Nutcracker (Ellie Caulkins Opera House) Nov. 26th– Dec. 24th

The holidays are not complete without seeing the Colorado Ballet perform Tchaikovsky’s famous Nutcracker with the Colorado Ballet Orchestra. Featuring dazzling costumes and classic choreography, this spectacle will capture audiences in the Land of Sweets.

  1.   A Tuna Christmas (Miner’s Alley Playhouse, Golden) through Dec. 20th

If you are looking for a new performance to take in this holiday season, A Tuna Christmas is one you won’t forget. This two-man performance is set in Tuna, Texas, and will surely change the way you see the holidays.

  1.   Breckenridge New Year’s Celebration

If you want to get out of town for a little while after Christmas is over, Breckenridge is throwing a New Year’s party that will ring in 2017 with a bang. Watch a spectacular array of fireworks from Main Street and catch the Torch Light Parade flowing down the Breckenridge Ski Resort.

  1.   Olde Golden Christmas

Golden hosts a variety of Christmas events every year, including the following: The Candle Light Walk & Carol, Lights along Washington Avenue and Clear Creek, and parades on three Saturdays leading up to Christmas day.

The holidays are a special time of year in Colorado. Even if you live in a quiet mountain town like Genesee, there are still plenty of events to attend to keep your holiday cheer going.
