The new United States of Aging Survey, conducted in part by United Healthcare, shows that people age more proactively in Denver than anywhere else in the country.

Why? Because older Denver residents eat better and exercise more.

Here are some of the survey’s positive statistics:

62 percent of Denver’s older adults placed an emphasis on healthy eating (compared with 49 percent nationally)

42 percent tend to exercise in public (compared with 32 percent nationally)

84 percent are confident they will be able to afford health care costs as they age

75 percent said that they find it easy to pay their monthly bills
