DIA plans to develop some of the 50 square miles of land that surrounds the airport.
These plans include a new transit-oriented development where East 61st Avenue will intersect with the FasTracks train to DIA.
Don’t expect anything too soon, however.
Work on building East 61st Street and East 60th Street to the development area isn’t expected to start until the end of next year, and the FasTracks train, from downtown to the airport, isn’t scheduled to open to the public until January 2016.
Overall, 90 acres of land will be opened up for development, and expect detailed plans to be released throughout 2013.
