Colorado unemployment has been trending downward since it peaked at 9.1 percent in October 2010. The last time the state’s jobless rate was as low as July’s 5.3 percent was in October 2008, when it also stood at 5.3 percent.
- Colorado gained 5,500 payroll jobs in July from the previous month.
- July was the 33rd consecutive month of payroll increases in the state.
- Over the last 12 months, payroll jobs in Colorado increased by 65,600 to 2,452,200.
- The tally of unemployed people in Colorado fell by 4,400 last month, bringing the state’s jobless rate down two-tenths of a point to 5.3 percent from 5.5 percent in June and 6.8 percent in July 2013.
- U.S. unemployment stood at 6.2 percent in July.
